Job summary

takealot.com, South Africa's leading online retailer, seeks a Community Manager Lead to direct the Personal Shopper Program in Cape Town. You will manage a team of Community Managers, drive adoption of the Personal Shopper App, and optimize engagement with AI personalization tools to grow the shopper base and GMV.

You will oversee KPI-driven performance, dashboards, and retention strategies while collaborating with leaders to evolve processes and training materials for scalable success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 3+ years’ experience in community management, customer engagement, sales team leadership, or a related field
• Proven track record managing and developing teams in a fast-paced environment
• Experience working in e-commerce, digital platforms, or supporting small business entrepreneurship is highly desirable
• Demonstrated success with training and performance management
• Strong understanding of underserved markets and building trust with diverse communities
• Familiarity with analyzing KPIs and using data to inform decision-making
• Experience implementing feedback loops, reporting, and process improvement

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach the Community Manager team, setting clear performance expectations and conducting KPI check-ins.
• Drive active base growth and app adoption to expand the monthly active shopper base.
• Own the Community Manager Dashboard and coordinate with the team to maximize GMV and engagement using AI tools.
• Monitor retention and develop top performers to scale their businesses.
• Gather insights from app usage and feedback to improve program processes and training materials.
