Job summary

Protea Hotels by Marriott® is seeking a Group and Events Agent at Summit Place Precinct in Pretoria. You will drive group and conference sales, respond to enquiries, and coordinate all event logistics to deliver exceptional guest experiences and maximize revenue for the hotel.

You will actively pursue new leads, negotiate terms, and maintain a robust pipeline across F&B, Front Office, Housekeeping, and AV. A Diploma or degree in Hospitality or Events is preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to convert leads into confirmed sales.
• Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills.
• High attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities.
• Strong multitasking and problem-solving under pressure.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and PMS/event platforms.

Responsibilities

• Proactively respond to group, conferencing, and event enquiries with tailored proposals.
• Actively pursue new group and conferencing leads through telesales, referrals, and networking.
• Secure business through timely follow-up and professional communication.
• Convert tentative enquiries into confirmed bookings through negotiation and upselling.
• Maintain a clear pipeline of leads and conversions in hotel systems.
• Coordinate operational delivery across F&B, Front Office, Housekeeping, Banqueting, AV.
• Prepare function sheets, rooming lists, and event resumes.
• Coordinate post-event follow-ups and client retention activities.
