Placements24 is seeking a Graduate Petroleum Engineer for our client in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. This role offers hands-on exposure to reservoir analysis, drilling operations, and production optimization under experienced mentors.

You'll collaborate with geologists and engineers, gain practical industry insights, and contribute to safe, efficient exploration projects while developing your professional skills in the energy sector.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related field (e.g., Chemical, Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience).
• Solid understanding of reservoir engineering principles, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics.
• Familiarity with petroleum industry software (e.g., Petrel, Eclipse, CMG) is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to work full-time at our operational base in Mossel Bay, Western Cape.
• A proactive and eager attitude towards learning and professional development in the energy sector.
• Understanding of upstream oil and gas operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the analysis of reservoir data, including geological and production information.
• Support the planning and execution of drilling operations.
• Monitor and optimize production rates from oil and gas wells.
• Participate in the evaluation of new exploration opportunities and prospects.
• Conduct technical studies related to reservoir performance and well integrity.
• Work with specialized software for reservoir simulation and modeling.
• Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, and other engineering disciplines.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to management.
• Assist in the economic evaluation of field development plans.
