About the Role
On behalf of our client, we are seeking a hands‑on, professionally assertive, and experienced Human Resource Generalist to join their team in Goodwood, Cape Town. If you have a strong HR background with non‑negotiable experience navigating MIBCO (Motor Industry Bargaining Council) HR and IR structures and agreements, this is an exceptional opportunity. Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resource Officer, you will take full accountability for the daily HR and IR function, driving performance management systems, talent development, and employment equity initiatives across the designated area.

Working Hours & Environment
- Standard Hours: Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00.

- Compliance & Operations: Standard working procedures and company policies must be strictly adhered to and enforced across all departmental structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Industrial Relations & Union Liaison: Manage IR relationships with unions, staff representatives, and bargaining councils (MIBCO/CCMA/DRC). Enforce compliance with labour legislation and resolve disputes efficiently.
- Recruitment & Manpower Planning: Prepare adverts, conduct recruitment, draft job profiles with KPIs, and manage staff take‑on processes aligned with Employment Equity targets.
- Performance Management Systems (PMS): Maintain, monitor, and report on individual and departmental KPIs using internal BI and HR systems.
- Training & Workplace Skills: Conduct gap analyses, manage online training portals and learnerships, and coordinate SETA applications, Workplace Skills Plans (WSP), and Annual Training Reports (ATR).
- HR Administration & Systems: Maintain employee records on SAGE People 300, process payroll documentation, manage POPIA compliance, and compile monthly headcount and movement reports.
- BEE & Transformation: Assist in drafting the group Employment Equity Plan, facilitating departmental transformation, and preparing documentation for annual BEE verification audits.
- Strict Legal Requirements: Background screening and reference checks will be conducted on all shortlisted candidates.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Location: Must already reside in Cape Town
- Experience: 5–6 years of experience within an HR environment, with a minimum of 4 years as an HR Generalist (including 2 years at Senior HR Officer level).
- MIBCO Expertise (Mandatory): Solid, practical understanding of Bargaining Council structures, MIBCO Main Agreements, and industry pay rate enforcement is strictly essential.
- Education: Grade 12 / Matric PLUS a Tertiary Qualification (Degree level) in Human Resources.
- Systems Knowledge: Advanced computer literacy in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Hands‑on experience with SAGE People 300 is an added advantage.
- Attributes: Strong analytical capability, exceptional negotiation and conflict management skills, high resilience, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Must be a South African-born citizen with a valid South African ID.
- Must have a clean criminal record.
- Must have contactable references from previous HR leadership roles.
