Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Goods Receiving Clerk and Stock Controller for a busy Mossel Bay warehouse. The role focuses on accurate intake, inspection, and documentation of inventory, as well as organizing stock locations to ensure fast, reliable order fulfillment.

You will perform receiving, cycle counts, and stock level monitoring, while collaborating with procurement and sales to resolve discrepancies, uphold safety standards, and maintain data integrity in the inventory system.

About the Role

Our client, a major retail distribution center, is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Goods Receiving Clerk & Stock Controller to join their busy warehouse operations in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. This vital role involves accurately receiving, inspecting, and documenting all incoming inventory, as well as meticulously managing stock levels within the facility. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong inventory management skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency. Key Responsibilities

• Receive and unload incoming shipments from various suppliers and transport companies.
• Inspect all goods for damage, defects, and discrepancies against purchase orders and delivery notes.
• Accurately record received goods into the inventory management system (IMS).
• Organize and allocate received stock to designated warehouse locations.
• Conduct regular stock takes and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
• Monitor stock levels and identify items requiring replenishment or those that are slow-moving.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical stock and system records.
• Ensure the receiving area is kept clean, organized, and safe at all times.
• Collaborate with procurement and sales teams regarding stock availability and issues.
• Prepare and dispatch outgoing goods as per orders, ensuring accuracy.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Goods Receiving Clerk, Stock Controller, or in a similar warehouse role.
• Proficiency in using inventory management software and basic computer applications (MS Office).
• Strong understanding of warehouse operations and stock control principles.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
• Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 20kg) as required.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of safety procedures in a warehouse environment.
• Familiarity with the Mossel Bay, Western Cape region is an advantage.
