Jobgether is seeking a Manager, Payroll Operations for a partner company based in South Africa. The role leads a payroll team delivering accurate, compliant payroll across multiple regions, with a remote‑first, asynchronous operating model.

You will manage complex issues, vendor relationships, and global implementations while scaling the operation. The ideal candidate has strong SA payroll knowledge, proven people leadership, and experience across multiple African countries, balancing accuracy

Qualifications

• Must have experience managing payroll operations in regional or multi-country environments.
• Proven people leadership, coaching, and performance management.
• Strong knowledge of South African payroll regulations and reporting.
• Experience with external payroll vendors and complex issue resolution.

Responsibilities

• Lead a payroll team, coaching and guiding day-to-day activities for accurate payroll.
• Own end‑to‑end payroll operations across multiple countries within a remote-first setup.
• Manage escalations, ensure compliance, controls, and auditable processes.
• Partner with People Ops, Finance, Legal, and Service Ops for payroll delivery.
• Drive continuous improvement, automation, and scalable payroll workflows.
