Job summary

Communicate Finance is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll processes for a large employee base in Gauteng, South Africa. You will handle salaries, deductions, statutory submits, and month-end reporting while ensuring accuracy and compliance with SA labour laws.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in payroll, strong Excel skills, and hands-on experience with Sage VIP or Sage 300 People. You will work under deadline-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in a payroll-focused role with end-to-end processing.
• Strong knowledge of South African payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
• Advanced Excel skills for complex payroll data.
• Experience with Sage VIP or Sage 300 People or similar systems.
• Excellent numerical and analytical abilities.
• Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Processing monthly, weekly, and bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time.
• Administering end-to-end payroll for a large employee base.
• Calculating salaries, overtime, allowances, leave, and bonuses.
• Processing deductions including PAYE, UIF, SDL, medical aid, pensions, and garnishee orders.
• Maintaining up-to-date payroll records.
• Handling appointments, terminations, transfers, promotions and salary changes.
• Reconciling payroll transactions and balance sheet accounts.
• Preparing payroll journals and assisting with month-end reporting.
• Ensuring compliance with labour legislation and company policies.
• Submitting statutory returns and maintaining payroll documentation.
