Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Freight Forwarder to manage the movement of goods internationally and domestically from its Sandton office. You will coordinate with carriers, customs brokers, and clients to ensure cost-effective, timely transport of shipments and handle all documentation from booking to resolution of issues.

Responsibilities include arranging shipments by air, sea, and road, preparing customs declarations, negotiating rates, and keeping clients updated on progress.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years in freight forwarding or international logistics.
• Deep knowledge of international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and trade compliance.
• Proficiency with freight forwarding software and general office applications.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and partners.

Responsibilities

• Arrange and book international and domestic freight shipments via air, sea, and road.
• Prepare and process shipping documentation including customs declarations and bills of lading.
• Liaise with clients, overseas agents, carriers, and customs authorities to manage shipment progress.
• Negotiate freight rates with carriers and service providers to secure competitive pricing.
• Monitor shipments and provide timely updates to clients on status and ETA.
• Resolve issues or discrepancies arising during transit such as delays or damaged goods.
