About the Role

Our client seeks a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join their dynamic team in George , supporting critical mining projects across the Western Cape. This role is essential for assessing ground stability, designing safe excavation solutions, and mitigating geotechnical risks associated with mining operations. You will work closely with mine planners, engineers, and environmental teams to ensure the integrity and safety of underground and surface mining infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough geotechnical investigations and analyses for new and existing mining sites.
• Design and recommend ground support systems, slope stabilization measures, and excavation methods.
• Monitor site conditions using various instrumentation and data analysis techniques.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on geotechnical risks to project teams.
• Develop and review geotechnical models and reports for regulatory submissions and project planning.
• Collaborate with external consultants and regulatory bodies on geotechnical matters.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the mining or civil engineering sectors, with a focus on geotechnical aspects.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as Rocscience suite, FLAC, or similar.
• Strong understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and geological principles.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
