About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join their engineering team, supporting various mining projects in and around Centurion . This hybrid role involves a blend of on-site assessments and remote analysis, focusing on ensuring the stability and safety of mine structures, excavations, and infrastructure. You will provide critical geotechnical expertise, contributing to project design, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies. The successful candidate will be adept at applying geotechnical principles to complex mining environments, working collaboratively with mine planners, geologists, and construction teams to deliver safe and sustainable mining operations, playing a key part in hazard identification and management.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical investigations and site assessments for new and existing mining operations.
• Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to evaluate slope stability, ground support, and excavation designs.
• Develop and implement geotechnical monitoring programs and interpret monitoring data.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, recommendations, and design specifications.
• Collaborate with project teams to identify and mitigate geotechnical risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical guidance on foundation design, ground improvement, and dewatering strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mining Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with significant exposure to the mining sector .
• Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., FLAC, Rocscience suite) for modeling and analysis.
• Strong understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and engineering geology principles.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills, capable of presenting technical findings to diverse audiences.
• Ability to travel to Centurion sites for assessments as required.
