Placements24 is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to support mining operations near Paarl. You will provide expert advice on slope stability, ground support and rock mechanics to ensure safe, efficient mine infrastructure.

The ideal candidate holds a BSc/BEng or MEng in geotechnical-related fields, with at least 5 years of mining geotech experience and proficiency in RocScience, FLAC and Geo-Studio. Collaboration with mine planners, geologists and operations is essential.

Qualifications

• BSc/BEng or MEng in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably within the mining sector.
• Proficiency with geotechnical analysis software such as RocScience, FLAC and Geo-Studio.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical site investigations including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Perform stability analyses for open-pit slopes, underground excavations, and mine waste facilities.
• Develop and implement ground support designs and monitoring programs.
