Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to support mining and construction projects in Rustenburg, North West. You will conduct site investigations, analyze soil and rock properties, and provide design recommendations for foundations and earthworks.

This role involves addressing slope stability, tunnelling and excavation challenges on technically demanding projects. Ideal candidates hold a BSc/BEng in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, with ECSA Pr Eng or Candidate Engineer registration

Qualifications

• BSc or BEng in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
• ECSA registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Candidate Engineer.
• Minimum 5 years of practical experience in geotechnical investigations and design.
• Experience with geotechnical software (GeoStudio, Plaxis) advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct site investigations including drilling, sampling and testing.
• Analyze soil and rock properties to determine engineering characteristics.
• Provide geotechnical design recommendations for foundations and earthworks.
• Assess risks related to slope stability, tunnelling, and excavations.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports and design documents.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute site investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.

• Assess and mitigate risks associated with slope stability, tunnelling, and excavations.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical investigation and design reports.

Requirements
