Placements24 is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer in Durban to contribute to energy projects. You will assess ground conditions, design foundations, and address slope stability for critical energy assets, collaborating with geologists, engineers, and environmental scientists.

The role requires 5+ years in geotechnical investigations, proficiency with PLAXIS/GeoStudio, and a strong foundation in soil/rock mechanics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering; Master's degree with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical investigations and design.
• Experience with various energy sector projects (e.g., power plants, substations, pipelines) is a significant advantage.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software for analysis and modeling (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio).
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
• Ability to interpret geological data and translate it into practical engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site investigations, including soil sampling, drilling, and in-situ testing for energy infrastructure projects. Analyze geotechnical data and prepare comprehensive geotechnical investigation reports.
• Design foundations (e.g., shallow and deep foundations) for power plants, transmission towers, and other energy facilities.
• Assess and mitigate risks related to slope stability, seismic activity, and ground settlement.
• Provide expert geotechnical advice and support to project teams throughout the design and construction phases.
• Ensure compliance with relevant geotechnical codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
