Placements24 is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to provide essential expertise for energy infrastructure projects, operating from Paarl. You will assess ground conditions, design foundations, and mitigate geological risks for power plants, transmission lines, and renewable facilities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical specialization.
Minimum 5 years of geotechnical experience, preferably in energy infrastructure.
Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS and GeoStudio.
Strong knowledge of soil and rock mechanics, and site investigation techniques.
Familiarity with South African building codes.
Excellent report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Plan and supervise geotechnical site investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
Analyze soil and rock properties to determine bearing capacity, settlement potential, and slope stability.
Design foundations for energy infrastructure elements, such as turbines, substations, and towers.
Assess and mitigate risks related to seismic activity, landslides, and other geological hazards.
Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, recommendations, and design drawings.
Collaborate with civil engineers, structural engineers, and project managers to integrate geotechnical solutions into overall project designs.
