Placements24 seeks a seasoned Civil Engineer with geotechnical expertise to Mossel Bay, Western Cape. Assess soils, design foundations, and mitigate soil-related risks for diverse projects.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelors/Master in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical specialization, is Pr. Eng. with ECSA, and has 6+ years of geotechnical experience, including PLAXIS and GEO5 proficiency and strong reporting skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is required.
• A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering.
• Proven experience in foundation design for buildings, bridges, or other civil infrastructure.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., PLAXIS, GEO5) and CPT data analysis tools.
• Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and groundwater hydrology.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing, to determine soil and rock properties.
• Perform detailed geotechnical analyses for foundations, slopes, retaining walls, and earthworks.
• Develop comprehensive geotechnical reports with clear design recommendations and mitigation strategies.
• Liaise with clients, project managers, and contractors to communicate geotechnical findings and design requirements.
• Oversee the implementation of geotechnical aspects of construction projects, including earthworks and foundation construction.
• Stay abreast of advancements in geotechnical engineering techniques and technologies.
