Placements24 is seeking a detail-oriented Geological Technician to support exploration and development activities in the East London area. You will collect, analyze, and log geological samples from drilling operations and field surveys, working closely with geologists to interpret subsurface formations.

This entry-level role requires a Diploma or Certificate in Geology, strong data recording skills, and the ability to work effectively in both field and laboratory environments.

Qualifications

Diploma or certificate in Geology or Earth Sciences.
Previous field or lab experience desirable.
Solid understanding of geological principles and rock identification.
Proficiency with basic laboratory equipment.
Strong data recording and organizational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work in both field and laboratory environments.

Responsibilities

Collect, label, and log geological samples from drilling.
Perform basic grain size analyses and visual logging.
Assist geologists in preparing maps, cross-sections, and reports.
Maintain records of well logs and survey data.
Prepare and present samples for examination.
Ensure proper handling and storage of specimens and data.
