Placements24 is seeking a detail-oriented Geological Technician to support exploration and mining activities in the George region of the Western Cape. You will collect, analyze, and interpret geological data to aid in resource identification and mine development, working alongside geologists and engineers.

The role offers field and laboratory assignments, with a focus on safety and precise record-keeping in challenging environments.

Qualifications

Diploma or National Certificate in Geology, Mining Technology, or related discipline.
Minimum 3 years of relevant geological fieldwork or laboratory analysis.
Proficiency in geological mapping techniques and sample collection methodologies.
Ability to work effectively in field and laboratory settings, often in challenging conditions.

Responsibilities

Conduct field geological surveys, including mapping, sampling, and data collection as per established protocols.
Prepare and analyze rock and core samples in the laboratory, performing tests for mineral content and physical properties.
Maintain accurate and organized geological databases, logs, and sample records.
Assist geologists in interpreting geological data and preparing technical reports.
Operate and maintain geological field equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental procedures during field and laboratory work.
