Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Geological Technician to support exploration and production activities in Welkom, with a hybrid work arrangement for remote data analysis and essential field support in the Free State.

You will assist geologists in collecting, processing, and interpreting data, helping identify subsurface formations and potential resource reserves for efficient planning in the oil and gas sector.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience as a Geological Technician or similar role.
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Science, or related field.
• Proficiency with geological software packages (ArcGIS, geological modeling).
• Basic understanding of geological principles and oil & gas exploration processes.

Responsibilities

• Assist in collection and logging of geological samples and core data.
• Prepare geological maps, cross-sections, and reports using specialized software.
