Job summary

Placements24 seeks a diligent Geological Technician to support exploration and geology operations in Mossel Bay. You will collect, log and preliminarily process geological samples, perform core logging, and maintain geological datasets.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in Geology or Earth Sciences.
• 1-3 years of experience as Geological Technician or Assistant Geologist.
• Proficiency in core logging and sample handling procedures.
• Knowledge of geological concepts, rock identification and structural measurements.

Responsibilities

• Assist geologists in field mapping, sampling, and geological data collection.
• Log drill core and samples with lithological, structural and mineralization details.
• Prepare and label geological samples for external laboratories.
• Maintain geological databases and ensure accuracy of sample records and field data.
• Operate and maintain geological field equipment and basic laboratory instruments.
• Assist with preparation of geological maps and cross-sections under supervision.
