SKILLS CONNECTOR is seeking a seasoned Retail Store Manager to oversee site operations in the Western Cape. You will manage stock, finances, and staff, ensure fuel compliance and safety, and drive profitability through effective marketing and pricing strategies.

You will coordinate end-of-day procedures, supervise recruitment and training, and maintain strong relationships with suppliers while safeguarding assets and cash controls on site.

Qualificações

• Matric with at least 5 years experience in managing a retail store.
• Diploma in Retail Management.
• Knowledge of fuel compliance regulations.
• Previous experience in stock management.
• Strong financial background.

Responsabilidades

• Understand the operation of fuel pumps and its power supply.
• Ensure site safety through safety cut-off switch.
• Conduct manual and electronic fuel level readings and reconcile stock levels.
• Ensure all equipment is in working order.
• Ensure that End of Day procedures are followed.
• Control stock: ordering, merchandising, pricing and wastage.
• Plan stock levels, price adjustments and marketing initiatives.
• Manage stock takes.
• Manage POS systems and cash controls.
• Negotiate best prices/terms with creditors and manage GP and losses.
• Recruit, train and manage site staff; write rosters and maintain records.
• Develop and implement a practical marketing plan to grow the site.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Matric with at least 5 years experience in managing a retail store
• Diploma in Retail Management
• Knowledge of fuel compliance regulations
• Previous experience in stock management
• Strong financial background

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Understand the operation of fuel pumps and it's power supply
• Ensure site safety through safety cut-off switch
• Conduct manual and electronic fuel level readings and the reconciliation thereof to ensure sufficient fuel stock levels at all times
• Ensure that all equipment is in working order
• Ensure that all “End of Day” procedures are followed

Stock management

• Ensure that sufficient procedures are in place to control stock, being ordering, merchandising, pricing (margins) and the control of wastage, expiration and ultimately stock losses
• Do planning, regarding stock levels, price adjustments, marketing initiatives
• Managing stock takes

Financial Management

• Managing POS systems and operations
• Ensure that the necessary systems are in place to control cash, bank transfers etc.
• Debtors & creditors management
• Manage suppliers and supplier information
• Ensure that the best prices and terms are negotiated with the creditors, and that they are settled as per the creditor’s agreements
• Manage GP’s and stock losses, ensure that the best quality product at the best available price, in the right quantity is always available on site
• Handling cash and ensuring procedures are in place for safe cash dropping and collection
• Check on cash handling and recon the bank statement

Staff Management

• Responsible for the recruitment, training and general management of all staff on site
• Draw up of rosters, inspecting hygiene, neatness and cleanliness of staff
• Ensure that the staff performs in accordance to the company's rules, regulations and standards
• Ensure that staff are informed and trained in the company’s code of conduct, rules and regulations as well as the disciplinary processes
• Keeping staff files and records updated and secured on site
• Manage and maintain employee relationships to ensure exceptional service levels

Marketing Management

• Ensure growth and profitability in a highly competitive market
• Create Brand Awareness: Develop, implement and maintain a practical marketing plan, over and above the fuel company’s campaigns. This must be done to boost brand awareness, but also to grow your specific site. Identify your site specific target market and implement your marketing plan accordingly.
• Advertising: Advertising in the correct format will ensure brand awareness amongst your target market and ensure sales growth. Advertising should be done regularly and measurably, to ensure maximum returns
