Job summary

JVR Software is recruiting for a Retail Store Manager to oversee Forecourt and Fuel operations at our site in Wes-Kaap. The role requires Matric with 5+ years managing a retail store and a Diploma in Retail Management, plus knowledge of fuel compliance and stock management.

You will lead financial controls, stock planning, staff supervision, and marketing efforts to maximize profitability. Responsibilities include ensuring safe operation of pumps, stock reconciliations, end-of-day procedures,

Responsibilities

• Forecourt and Fuel operations: Understand the operation of fuel pumps and its power supply; ensure site safety; conduct fuel level readings and stock reconciliation; ensure equipment is in working order; follow End of Day procedures.
• Stock management: control stock, ordering, merchandising, pricing, wastage, expiration, and stock losses; plan stock levels and price adjustments; manage stock takes.
• Financial Management: manage POS systems; implement cash controls; debtors & creditors management; manage suppliers and negotiate prices and terms; manage gross profit and stock losses; ensure cash handling procedures and bank reconciliation.
• Staff Management: recruitment, training and management of on-site staff; rosters; hygiene and cleanliness; code of conduct and disciplinary processes; maintain staff records; manage employee relations.
• Marketing Management: grow profitability; create and execute brand awareness and marketing plans; advertising to boost sales and measure returns.
• HSEQ: adhere to Health & Safety policies; ensure site compliance and staff training and records updated.

• Understand the operation of fuel pumps and it’s power supply
• Ensure site safety through safety cut-off switch
• Conduct manual and electronic fuel level readings and the reconciliation thereof to ensure sufficient fuel stock levels at all times
• Ensure that all equipment is in working order
• Ensure that all End of Day procedures are followed

Stock management

• Ensure that sufficient procedures are in place to control stock, being ordering, merchandising, pricing (margins) and the control of wastage, expiration and ultimately stock losses
• Do planning, regarding stock levels, price adjustments, marketing initiatives
• Managing stock takes

Financial Management

• Managing POS systems and operations
• Ensure that the necessary systems are in place to control cash, bank transfers etc.
• Debtors & creditors management
• Manage suppliers and supplier information
• Ensure that the best prices and terms are negotiated with the creditors, and that they are settled as per the creditors agreements
• Manage GPs and stock losses, ensure that the best quality product at the best available price, in the right quantity is always available on site
• Handling cash and ensuring procedures are in place for safe cash dropping and collection
• Check on cash handling and recon the bank statement

Staff Management

• Responsible for the recruitment, training and general management of all staff on site
• Draw up of rosters, inspecting hygiene, neatness and cleanliness of staff
• Ensure that the staff performs in accordance to the company’s rules, regulations and standards
• Ensure that staff are informed and trained in the companys code of conduct, rules and regulations as well as the disciplinary processes
• Keeping staff files and records updated and secured on site
• Manage and maintain employee relationships to ensure exceptional service levels

Marketing Management

• Ensure growth and profitability in a highly competitive market
• Create Brand Awareness: Develop, implement and maintain a practical marketing plan, over and above the fuel companys campaigns. This must be done to boost brand awareness, but also to grow your specific site. Identify your site specific target market and implement your marketing plan accordingly.
• Advertising: Advertising in the correct format will ensure brand awareness amongst your target market and ensure sales growth. Advertising should be done regularly and measurably, to ensure maximum returns
