Job summary

Ba-Phalaborwa Golf Club is seeking an experienced General Manager to steer the club's strategic, financial, commercial and operational dimensions in Limpopo. You will lead hospitality, leisure and events, driving guest experience and financial sustainability.

The role requires strong leadership, business acumen and a passion for golf, with responsibility for budgets, KPIs and stakeholder relationships across head office and the local community.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a senior hospitality management role.
• 4+ years’ experience as a Food & Beverage Manager or General Manager within a multi-venue property.
• Strong knowledge of food and beverage operations.
• Good understanding of the game of golf.
• Proven experience in financial management, budgeting and operational leadership.
• Experience with events, weddings and corporate functions.
• Valid Code 08 driver’s licence.
• Reputable and relevant employment record.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the Golf Club and its hospitality, leisure and events functions.
• Develop and implement strategies to drive revenue, profitability, membership growth and business development.
• Prepare and manage annual operating and capital budgets, monitor financial performance and control costs.
• Monitor key financial and operational KPIs and provide regular reports to Head Office.
• Ensure exceptional service standards and memorable experience for members, visitors, corporate clients, tourists and guests.
• Build strong relationships with members, guests, corporate clients, stakeholders and the local community.
• Oversee food and beverage operations, stock control, cash handling and cost management.
• Drive and oversee weddings, corporate functions, themed events and other revenue-generating activities.
• Identify and implement new commercial opportunities, promotions and initiatives to attract and retain members and guests.
• Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team across the Club.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and operational standards.
• Develop and maintain SOPs and ensure consistent service delivery.
• Monitor customer feedback and address queries and complaints promptly.
• Work with Head Office to achieve strategic and financial objectives.

Ba-Phalaborwa Golf Club is looking for an experienced and commercially driven General Manager to lead the overall strategic, financial, commercial and operational management of the Club.

This is a senior leadership role for an individual who can combine hospitality excellence, business acumen, people leadership and a passion for golf to position the Club as a leading golf, leisure, hospitality, events and community destination in Limpopo and the greater Bushveld region.

The successful candidate will be accountable for the Club’s performance, guest experience, reputation, operational standards, revenue growth and long-term financial sustainability.

Education Requirements

Minimum Requirements

Qualification

• Diploma in Food & Beverage Management or equivalent NQF Level 6 qualification from a recognised institution.
• An Advanced Diploma or Degree in Hotel Management (NQF Level 7) will be advantageous.

Experience

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a senior hospitality management role, preferably within a multi-venue property offering leisure and dining experiences.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of food and beverage operations.
• Good understanding of the game of golf.
• Proven experience in financial management, budgeting and operational leadership.
• Experience managing and developing teams in a hospitality environment.
  Advantageous
• 4+ years’ experience as a Food & Beverage Manager or General Manager within a multi-venue property or restaurant group.
• Experience with ClubMaster or similar POS systems, stock control software and Microsoft Office.
• Experience in events, weddings, corporate functions and leisure hospitality.
• Valid Code 08 driver’s licence
• A reputable and relevant employment record.
