Job summary

Bergview College in South Africa is seeking a Foundation Phase Teacher and/or Departmental Head Foundation Phase to commence on 01 January 2027. The role is permanent with a 3-month probation.

The successful candidate will teach core subjects, develop lesson plans, monitor progress and foster a positive classroom environment. Responsibilities include collaborating with staff, facilitating extra-mural activities and upholding school curriculum standards.

Qualifications

• A relevant teaching qualification in Foundation Phase Teaching (Degree/Diploma).
• Proven experience in teaching Foundation Phase.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage students.
• Excellent Computer Skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach English HL, Afrikaans/IsiXhosa FAL, Mathematics and Life Skills to students according to the school curriculum.
• Prepare lesson plans and assessments.
• Monitor and assess student progress.
• Provide a positive and engaging classroom environment.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student learning.
• Extra-mural activities.
