Placements24 is seeking a skilled Formulation Scientist to join its R&D team in Port Elizabeth. The role focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing oral solid dosage formulations to improve bioavailability, stability, and patient compliance.

You will lead bench-scale formulation development, characterization, and scale-up activities while collaborating with analytical and manufacturing teams to move new products from concept to market in a cutting-edge facility.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development, specifically with oral solid dosage forms.
• Strong understanding of drug delivery principles, material science, and pharmaceutics.
• Proficiency in laboratory equipment used for formulation development and characterization.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize formulations for oral solid dosage forms (tablets, capsules) including pre-formulation studies.
• Perform drug product characterization, including dissolution, stability, and physical property testing.
• Plan and execute formulation scale-up activities from bench to pilot plant.
• Troubleshoot formulation-related issues and identify solutions to ensure product quality and manufacturability.
