About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and innovative Formulation Scientist to join their Research and Development team in Paarl, Western Cape . This role is critical for the development of new pharmaceutical products, focusing on designing, optimizing, and scaling up drug formulations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including analytical development, process engineering, and regulatory affairs, to bring new therapies from concept to market. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pharmaceutical formulation science, a passion for innovation, and a commitment to quality and scientific excellence within the Paarl pharmaceutical landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop novel pharmaceutical formulations (e.g., solid dosage forms, liquids, semi-solids) for oral, topical, or parenteral administration.


• Conduct pre-formulation studies to characterize drug substances and excipients.


• Optimize formulations for stability, bioavailability, manufacturability, and patient compliance.


• Develop and validate analytical methods for testing formulated products.


• Scale up laboratory formulations to pilot and commercial manufacturing processes.


• Prepare technical reports, documentation, and contribute to regulatory submissions.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.


• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.


• Proficiency in formulation techniques, excipient selection, and drug delivery systems.


• Experience with laboratory equipment and analytical techniques relevant to formulation development.
