Placements24 is seeking a talented Formulation Scientist to join its Product Development team in Port Elizabeth. You will design, develop, and optimize pharmaceutical dosage forms for new and existing products, ensuring safety, efficacy, stability, and regulatory compliance.

You will work in a collaborative R&D environment, developing formulations for tablets, capsules, injectables, and topical dosage forms, and contribute to innovative drug development projects in Port Elizabeth.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• Proficiency in dosage form technologies and analytical methods for characterization and stability testing.
• Understanding of drug delivery systems and their impact on bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize stable and efficacious pharmaceutical formulations (e.g., tablets, capsules, injectables, topical).
• Conduct pre-formulation studies, including characterization of APIs and excipients.
• Design and execute experiments to evaluate formulation performance, stability, and manufacturability.
• Utilize various laboratory equipment and techniques for formulation development, characterization, and analysis.
• Document all experimental procedures, results, and conclusions comprehensively in reports and technical documents.

About the Role
