Bright Placements (PTY) Ltd seeks a guest-focused host to manage the evening dining experience at a safari lodge. The role connects the kitchen, food, and guests to deliver a memorable safari dining journey.

The ideal candidate thrives in front-facing hospitality, with strong communication, attention to detail, and a passion for food. They will articulate the food story and partner with the Lodge Chef Consultant and F&B Manager to maintain high standards.

Responsibilities

• Host and oversee the evening dining experience.
• Bridge between kitchen, food, and guests to enhance the safari experience.
• Communicate the story behind the food served to guests.
• Collect guest feedback and identify improvement opportunities.
• Work with Lodge Chef Consultant and F&B Manager on menus and standards.
• Assist with menu rollouts and ensure consistent implementation by the kitchen team.
• Oversee kitchen OHS, hygiene and operational standards.
• Support kitchen staff with food and kitchen knowledge.
• Act as link between kitchen, F&B team, lodge management and guests.

Job description

• Hosting and overseeing the evening dining experience.
• Creating a connection between the kitchen, food and the guest.
• Understanding and communicating the story and journey behind the food being served.
• Gathering guest feedback and identifying opportunities to improve the dining experience.
• Working closely with the Lodge Chef Consultant and F&B Manager on menu implementation, food concepts and standards.
• Assisting with menu rollouts and ensuring that the kitchen team understands and consistently implements the agreed menus.
• Overseeing Kitchen OHS, hygiene and operational standards.
• Supporting the Kitchen team where required, drawing on their food and kitchen knowledge.
• Acting as an additional link between the kitchen, F&B team, lodge management and guests.

The ideal candidate would therefore be someone who has credible kitchen/food knowledge but also enjoys being front-facing and engaging with guests. We are looking for a person who understands that food is not simply about what is placed on the plate, but forms an important part of the overall safari experience.

A strong host personality, attention to detail, communication skills and genuine passion for food are as important as technical kitchen knowledge.
