About the Role

Our client is a leading aviation services provider seeking an accomplished Flight Operations Manager to oversee and optimize flight operations from their hub in George, Western Cape . This strategic position demands a visionary leader with a proven track record in managing complex flight schedules, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of safety and efficiency. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of flight crews, dispatch, and ground operations, ensuring seamless coordination and adherence to the highest industry standards. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive flight operations policies and procedures.
• Oversee daily flight scheduling, crew rostering, and resource allocation to ensure optimal utilization.
• Ensure strict adherence to all national and international aviation regulations (e.g., SA CAA).
• Manage and mentor the flight operations team, including dispatchers and flight coordinators.
• Monitor flight performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, maintenance departments, and other stakeholders to ensure operational integrity.
• Develop and manage budgets for the flight operations department.
• Oversee the implementation of safety management systems (SMS) within flight operations.
• Respond effectively to operational disruptions and emergencies.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in flight operations management, preferably within commercial aviation.
• In-depth knowledge of aviation regulations and operational best practices.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Strong understanding of flight planning, dispatch, and crew management software.
• Excellent analytical, decision‑making, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Relevant aviation qualifications or certifications are highly desirable.
• Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) is essential.
