Job summary

City Logistics in Brakpan is seeking a skilled Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee the inland fleet's technical performance, maintenance planning, and compliance. You will work with regional transport managers on vehicle availability, downtime, and workshop operations, while ensuring OEM and regulatory standards are met.

This permanent role requires hands-on workshop experience and strong analytical and reporting capabilities to optimise costs and safety.

Qualifications

  • Matric and technical qualifications are preferred.
  • Hands-on fleet workshop and maintenance management experience.

  • Experience with fleet management systems and OEM compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee inland fleet technical performance and compliance, including maintenance planning.
  • Collaborate with regional managers on vehicle availability, downtime and workshop ops.
  • Plan, monitor and manage inland fleet in line with forecasts.
  • Manage maintenance schedules, workshops, SLAs and asset care at inland depots.
  • Assist with technical evaluation of vehicles, repairs, refurbishments and parts.
  • Analyze operational and budget data to optimise fleet costs.
  • Ensure compliance with OEM and regulatory standards and drive safety improvements.
  • Support fleet management systems for accurate tracking of performance and costs.
  • Review lifecycle data and total cost of ownership.
  • Lead tyre/inventory control with workshops and procurement.
  • Monitor regulatory and safety compliance; conduct audits and reviews.
  • Coordinate licensing, COF, insurance claims and other statutory tasks.
  • Identify cost savings in repairs and parts and improvements in efficiencies.
  • Occasional travel to neighbouring provinces to support operations.
  • Provide after-hours support for technical issues.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the technical performance and compliance of the inland fleet, includingmaintenance planning and execution.
  • Work closely with regional transport managers to provide technical input onvehicle availability, downtime, and workshop operations.
  • Plan, monitor, and manage the inland fleet in alignment with forward-lookingbusiness forecasts.
  • Manage fleet maintenance schedules, workshop operations, service levelagreements, and asset care plans for inland depots.
  • Assist with the technical evaluation of vehicles, repairs, refurbishments, and partsprocurement.
  • Analyse operational and budgetary data to optimise fleet costs and performance.
  • Ensure adherence to OEM and regulatory standards and proactively driveimprovements in maintenance and safety procedures.
  • Support the implementation and usage of fleet management systems to ensureaccurate tracking of vehicle performance and costs.
  • Review vehicle lifecycle data and total cost of ownership.
  • Lead tyre and inventory control processes in conjunction with workshopsupervisors and procurement teams.
  • Monitor technical compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
  • Conduct regular technical audits, inspections, and performance reviews acrossworkshops in the inland region.
  • Ensure timely completion of licensing, COF, insurance claims, and otherstatutory compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to cost control initiatives by identifying savings on repairs, parts, andtechnical efficiencies.
  • Travel to neighbouring provinces when necessary to support the operations.
  • Provide support after hours in the event of any technical issues.
Qualifications
  • Matric
  • Technical certifications or trade qualification (highly advantageous)
  • Hands‑on experience managing workshop operations and heavy vehicle maintenance
  • Strong working knowledge of fleet management systems and technical compliance standards
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and reporting skills
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a technical fleet or maintenance management role within logistics, transport, or related industries
  • Sound understanding of vehicle diagnostics, OEM specifications, and lifecycle management
