Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Fleet Manager to oversee Midrand vehicle fleet operations in Gauteng. You will ensure safe, cost-effective management of assets, maintenance scheduling, driver management, and regulatory compliance.

You will implement telematics for tracking, optimize utilization, manage budgets, and liaise with external service providers. A relevant degree and 5+ years in fleet management are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Transportation Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in fleet management or a related transportation role.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair and operational best practices.
• Proven experience in managing driver performance and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Excellent understanding of fleet management software and telematics systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the company's vehicle fleet, including scheduling maintenance and repairs.
• Ensure all vehicles comply with safety regulations and licensing requirements.
• Oversee driver performance, training, and adherence to company policies and driving standards.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize fleet utilization and reduce operating costs (fuel, maintenance, etc.).
• Maintain accurate records of fleet inventory, maintenance history, and operational expenses.
• Manage relationships with external service providers, such as mechanics and parts suppliers.
• Investigate and report on any accidents or incidents involving fleet vehicles.
• Implement and monitor telematics and GPS systems for fleet tracking and efficiency.
• Contribute to the procurement and disposal of fleet vehicles as needed.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation laws and regulations.
