Job summary

Recruitment Matters Africa (Pvt) Ltd invites applications for a senior finance professional to oversee financial transactions, reporting, and controls. You will lead month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow while coordinating audits and SARS submissions in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires CA(SA) or CIMA or SAICA/SAIPA training with substantial post-articles experience and a track record of developing finance teams. Strong Excel and ERP skills are essential.

Qualifications

• CA(SA) or CIMA with 4+ years’ post-articles experience, or B.Com with SAICA/SAIPA articles and 6+ years’ post-articles experience.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience within a retail environment.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS for SMEs, South African taxation, SARS requirements, and financial controls.
• Proven experience in financial reporting, management accounts, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management.
• Experience managing month-end and year-end processes, audits, taxation, and annual financial statements.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting or ERP systems, including Sage Evolution.
• Proven experience managing and developing finance teams.
• Ability to manage high volumes, multiple priorities, and strict financial deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions, reporting, and management accounts.
• Review Income Statement and Balance Sheet accounts, reconciliations, and financial performance.
• Manage month-end, year-end, budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow processes.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, financial statements, tax submissions, and SARS requirements.
• Oversee creditor payments, provisions, accruals, reconciliations, and age analysis.
• Develop and maintain effective financial processes, internal controls, and governance frameworks.
• Monitor budget variances and provide financial analysis and strategic insights to management.
• Support stock-takes, insurance administration, banking, acquisitions, due diligence, and finance projects.
• Identify opportunities to automate and improve finance systems and processes.
• Lead, develop, and support the finance team through performance management and technical guidance.

• Professional accounting designation or completed articles.


• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.


• Strong working knowledge of IFRS for SMEs.


• Strong knowledge of South African taxation and SARS requirements.


• Experience with Sage Evolution or similar ERP/accounting systems.
