We are seeking a commercially minded and detail-oriented Professional Accountant with a completed CIMA qualification or SAIPA Professional Accountant (SA) designation, supported by an appropriate accounting degree.
The role is responsible for reliable financial reporting, management accounting, statutory compliance, financial controls, and practical support to operational decision-making. Strong Excel and accounting-system skills are essential, with Proman experience advantageous.
This is a professional accounting role and is not intended as a Chartered Accountant training position.
- Manage the full accounting cycle, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, cash books, and the General Ledger.
- Prepare and post monthly journals, accruals, provisions, and other month-end adjustments.
- Perform and review bank, supplier, customer, and balance-sheet reconciliations, resolving reconciling items promptly.
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, supporting schedules, and financial reports for management review.
- Analyse financial results, investigate variances, and provide practical insights to support business decision-making.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and project or departmental cost monitoring.
- Manage statutory and payroll-related compliance, including VAT, PAYE, and UIF, in accordance with current requirements.
- Prepare VAT reconciliations and submit accurate returns through SARS eFiling within the required deadlines.
- Maintain sound financial controls, complete accounting records, and well-organised supporting documentation.
- Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements and provide schedules and information for external audits or independent reviews.
- Ensure accounting transactions are correctly classified across General Ledger accounts, projects, and departments.
- Contribute to finance process improvements, accounting-system integrity, and other professional accounting duties required by the Financial Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, or an equivalent recognised degree appropriate to the CIMA or SAIPA professional route.
- Completed CIMA qualification or current SAIPA Professional Accountant (SA) designation. This is a mandatory requirement.
Years of Relevant Experience
- 3–5 years of relevant post-qualification accounting experience, including month-end reporting, management accounts, reconciliations, and statutory compliance.
Technical Skills and Competencies
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Proven experience with accounting and financial-management systems; Proman experience will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of financial and management accounting principles, month-end processes, and internal financial controls.
- Practical knowledge of South African tax and statutory requirements, including VAT, PAYE, UIF, and SARS eFiling.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial-reporting skills, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organisational, communication, and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and meet reporting deadlines.
