Job summary

Recruitment Matters Africa (Pvt) Ltd is seeking a seasoned finance professional with a B.Com and completed SAICA/SAIPA articles to lead accounting and financial reporting in a busy multi-unit environment.

The role emphasises treasury, cash management, tax, audit readiness, and strong ERP experience, including Sage Evolution. You will drive month-end closes, reconciliations, and financial analysis with a focus on accuracy and timelines.

Qualifications

• B.Com degree in Accounting/Finance is required.
• Completed SAICA, SAIPA, or equivalent articles.
• Minimum 5 years post-articles accounting/finance experience.
• Experience with high-volume transactions and merchant settlement.
• Strong Excel and accounting systems knowledge (Sage Evolution).
• Familiarity with payroll, tax, VAT, audit processes, and statutory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review management accounts, income statements, and balance sheet schedules.
• Process journals, accruals, provisions, and month-end entries.
• Review General Ledger transactions and perform reconciliations.
• Investigate discrepancies and resolve outstanding items.
• Assist with annual financial statements, tax calculations, VAT submissions, and statutory requirements.
• Prepare audit schedules and respond to audit queries.
• Manage stock/inventory accounting, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow reporting, and financial analysis.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to standardise and automate finance processes; liaise with stakeholders.

Key Requirements

• B.Com degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with completed SAICA, SAIPA, or equivalent articles.
• Minimum 5 years’ post-articles experience in accounting, financial reporting, or a similar finance role.
• 5–8+ years’ experience in treasury, revenue reconciliation, cash management, or corporate finance.
• Experience within retail, QSR, FMCG, or multi-unit environments.
• Strong knowledge of high-volume transactions, POS systems, and merchant settlement processes.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting systems, including Sage Evolution or similar.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end processes, and Balance Sheet controls.
• Knowledge of taxation, statutory requirements, audit processes, and payroll.
• Proven leadership and people-management experience.
