Job summary

JVR Software is seeking a dedicated Finance Controller to take charge of comprehensive financial management, statutory compliance, and reporting operations. You will oversee a small finance and creditors team, manage budget packs, and lead multi-entity audits.

The role requires a BCom Honors, advanced Excel, and strong knowledge of Pastel and Xero with IFRS/IFRS for SMEs, delivering robust financial reporting and stakeholder communications.

Qualifications

• BCom Honors degree with practical experience in financial management.
• Proficient in MS Excel and accounting packages Pastel and Xero.
• Solid grounding in IFRS and IFRS for SMEs.
• Strong financial reporting and professional communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage cash flow, calculate management fees, handle provisioning for bad debts, and produce meaningful financial variance analysis.
• Oversee all SARS requirements, including EMPs, VAT, and Provisional tax calculations, and CPIC returns with full BEE compliance.
• Manage balance sheet reconciliations, processing of recons, GL closures, and data integrity across stock, debtors and payroll.
• Directly oversee Creditors and Finance Teams (3 people) and liaise with Group accountants, legal counsel, insurers and auditors.
• Take accountability for audits of 4 group entities and manage banking and payment verifications.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and thorough Finance Controller to join their laboratory services team. In this role, you will take charge of comprehensive financial management, statutory compliance, and reporting operations. You will oversee a small finance and creditors team, manage budget pack production, and lead multi-entity audit processes to ensure total operational accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage cash flow, calculate management fees, handle provisioning for bad debts, and produce meaningful financial variance analysis. Oversee the compilation of financial and management reporting packs.
• Oversee all SARS requirements, including EMPs, VAT, and Provisional tax calculations. Ensure complete company statutory returns on CPIC alongside full BEE compliance and submission workflows.
• Manage balance sheet recons, processing of recons, and GL reconciliation and closures. Perform meticulous system data reconciliations across stock, debtors, and payroll to ensure data integrity.
• Directly oversee and guide the Creditors and Finance Teams consisting of 3 people. Act as the primary point of contact for external and internal stakeholders, including Group accountants, legal counsel, insurance partners, and auditors.
• Take full accountability for overseeing the audits of 4 distinct group entities. Manage banking systems, handle secure payment verifications, and systematically update bank statements.

Job Requirements

• A completed BCom Honors degree paired with proven, practical experience in a similar financial management role.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel alongside a mandatory, deep working knowledge of Pastel and Xero accounting packages. Thorough grounding in IFRS and IFRS for SMEs is required.
• Strong financial reporting capabilities accompanied by excellent, professional communication skills. Position requires a focused professional who works efficiently without distraction.
