Job summary

Watershed Consulting is seeking Field Service Technicians for mining operations in Lydenburg and Rustenburg. You will minimize downtime, optimise machine performance, and ensure OEM and mine safety standards while delivering on-site technical support.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Grade 12 Certificate.
• Auto Electrical or Millwright Apprenticeship with a recognized Trade.
• At least 3 years’ experience as Auto Electrician/Millwright in underground mining.
• At least 3 years’ experience maintaining TMM LHDs, dump trucks, drill rigs, and roof bolter equipment in underground mining.
• Valid Certificate of Fitness (Red Ticket).
• Valid Code 08 Drivers License.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned maintenance on TMMs to promote reliability and cost savings.
• Do OEM electrical work up to the junction box at Mines Mini-Sub.
• Ensure proper wiring, connections and configuration of electrical components.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical issues promptly.
• Inspect electrical systems to identify potential issues.
• Maintain accurate installation and maintenance records.
• Collaborate with technicians and engineers to resolve issues.
• Arrange spares proactively.
• Inspect machines and sign off on work.
• Follow mine rules and procedures.
• Identify training needs and communicate with Foreman.

Field Service Technicians - Mining

Purpose of the positions: The role is responsible for minimising TMM equipment downtime, optimising machine performance, controlling maintenance costs, and ensuring compliance with OEM specifications, mine safety standards, and operational procedures while providing technical support to clients on site.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Do Planned & help with Maintenance on TMM’s in a manner that promotes reliability with total cost saving to the Client
• This includes all OEM electrical work up to the Junction Box at the Mines Mini-Sub
• Ensure proper wiring, connection, and configuration of electrical components
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues and implement timely repairs
• Conduct thorough inspections of electrical systems to identify potential issues
• Maintain accurate records of all installations, repairs, and maintenance activities
• Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and relevant departments to resolve complex electrical issues
• Arrange / request all spares required in a pro-active manner
• Inspection on the Machines and Sign-off
• Follow & adhere to all Mine Rules & Procedures
• Help to identify Training needs of people on Site and communicate with Foreman

Qualifications And Experience

• Minimum of Grade 12 Certificate
• Must have completed an Auto Electrical or Millwright Apprenticeship, and be in possession of a recognized appropriate Trade
• Must have at least 3 years’ experience as an Auto Electrician/Millwright in an underground mechanized mining environment
• Must have at least 3 years’ experience in the maintenance of TMM LHDs, Dump Trucks, Drill rigs and
• Roof bolter equipment in an underground mining environment
• Must be in possession of a valid Certificate of Fitness (Red Ticket)
• Valid Code 08 Drivers License
