Job summary

Chainlink Recruitment is seeking two Field Service Technicians to join a global technology business specialising in electrical systems for mining automation. Based in Middelburg, Mpumalanga, you’ll install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and commission electrical equipment and control systems on open-cast mining operations.

You will work with AC and DC rotating equipment, perform maintenance, fault-finding, and respond to breakdowns while ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Grade 12/Matric is required.
• N6 or Diploma in Electronic Engineering is required.
• Instrumentation Trade qualification is required.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with mining equipment and control systems.
• PLC experience with Siemens, ABB or Allen-Bradley.
• Excellent computer literacy.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Strong commitment to safety standards.
• Willingness to work at remote mining sites in cross-cultural environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mining equipment including draglines, shovels, drills and dump trucks.
• Fault-finding, troubleshooting, repairs and component replacements on electrical and control systems.
• Install, maintain and commission electrical and control systems.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and restore machinery to safe, operational condition.
• Work with AC and DC rotating equipment.
• Complete job cards, work orders and maintenance reports.
• Provide technical feedback to support maintenance planning.
• Adhere to site safety, environmental standards and requirements.
• Collaborate with customers, supervisors and technical teams to ensure reliability.

ABOUT THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity exists for two experienced Field Service Technicians to join a global technology business specialising in electrical systems, rotating machinery and mining automation.

The successful candidates will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and commissioning electrical equipment and control systems used in open-cast mining operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mining equipment, including draglines, shovels, drills and dump trucks.
• Conduct fault-finding, troubleshooting, repairs and component replacements on electrical and control systems.
• Install, maintain and commission electrical and control systems.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and restore machinery to safe, operational condition.
• Work with AC and DC rotating equipment.
• Complete job cards, work orders and maintenance reports accurately.
• Identify equipment deficiencies and provide technical feedback to support maintenance planning.
• Adhere to all site safety procedures, environmental standards and operational requirements.
• Work closely with customers, supervisors and technical teams to ensure equipment reliability and effective service delivery.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• N6 or Diploma in Electronic Engineering.
• Instrumentation Trade qualification.
• Minimum 5 years' relevant working experience.
• Experience with mining equipment and control systems.
• PLC experience, preferably Siemens, ABB and Allen-Bradley.
• Advanced computer literacy.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Good communication and decision-making skills.
• Strong commitment to safety, health and environmental standards.
• Willingness and ability to work at remote mining sites and in cross-cultural environments.
