Positron SE is seeking a Field Service Technician for permanent work in Port Elizabeth. You will install, configure and troubleshoot IT equipment, access control and biometric systems, CCTV, and networks at client sites.

The role requires hands-on, travel to client locations, and Afrikaans/English fluency. A+ and N+ certifications, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to relocate to Cape Town are essential.

Job description

We are looking for a skilled and customer-focused Field Service Technician to join our team on a permanent basis in Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support, installations, maintenance and troubleshooting at client sites.

The role requires someone who is technically competent, professional, hands-on and comfortable travelling extensively to client locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot IT and technical equipment at client sites.
• Install and support access control and biometric systems.
• Install, configure and troubleshoot CCTV systems.
• Perform network installations and basic network troubleshooting.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software-related technical issues.
• Provide field-based technical support to clients.
• Perform preventative maintenance and equipment checks.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively when carrying out installations and technical work.
• Complete service reports and maintain accurate records of work performed.
• Travel to client sites within Cape Town and nationally as required.
• Maintain a professional appearance and provide excellent customer service.
• Minimum 2 years' field service technician experience.
• Fluent in Afrikaans and English.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Updated A+ and N+ certifications.
• Good working knowledge of Windows 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11.
• Proven experience with access control and biometric systems – essential.
• Proven experience with CCTV installation and setup – essential.
• Experience with network installations – essential.
• Knowledge and practical experience using hand tools and power tools.
• Must be based in Cape Town or willing to relocate to Cape Town.
• Must be willing to travel 100% as required.
