Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Field Service Electrical Engineer for East London to support large industrial machinery sites across the Eastern Cape. You will travel to customer sites, install, commission, diagnose faults, and provide on-site technical assistance and training.

The role requires a degree or diploma in electrical engineering, 4+ years in field service, and strong PLC/VFD troubleshooting, with a proactive, safety‑conscious approach and excellent client communication.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 4 years of field service, maintenance or technical support experience.
Strong troubleshooting skills related to control systems, PLCs and VFDs.

Responsibilities

Perform on-site installation, commissioning and testing of electrical systems.
Diagnose and resolve electrical faults to minimise downtime.
Provide technical support and guidance to customers on operation and maintenance.
Conduct preventative maintenance and service inspections.
Develop and deliver technical training to customer personnel.
Prepare detailed service reports and recommendations.
Maintain spare parts inventory and tools for field operations.
Coordinate with engineering and sales to address customer needs.
Ensure safety regulations and company policies are followed in East London.
