Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support its clients in Benoni, Gauteng. The role involves on-site installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of complex electrical systems across industrial sectors, with regular travel and hybrid office duties.

You will diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and provide expert technical guidance to customers while ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• A National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Hands‑on field service experience of 4+ years in maintenance or technical support, preferably with industrial electrical systems.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems including power distribution, control panels, motors and drives.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and manuals.
• Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong customer service and communication abilities.
• Willingness to travel regularly within Gauteng and hold a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems at client locations around Benoni.
• Conduct routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on electrical machinery and control systems.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions.
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers to ensure optimal system operation.
• Prepare detailed service reports with findings and recommendations.
• Adhere to safety protocols and environmental regulations during field activities.
• Collaborate with sales and engineering to provide customer feedback and identify service improvements.
• Manage service schedules and spare parts inventory effectively.
• Participate in training programs to stay updated on product advancements and service techniques.
