Placements24 in East London, Eastern Cape, is seeking an Electrical Field Service Engineer to service customer sites across the region. You will install, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex electrical systems embedded in machinery, and travel frequently to client locations.

As the primary technical contact, you will diagnose issues, train customer personnel, and ensure safety standards are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years in field service, maintenance, or installation of industrial electrical equipment.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and interpret manuals.
• Willingness to travel frequently within East London and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and start-up new electrical equipment and systems at customer sites.
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and calibration of electrical machinery.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults, mechanical issues, and control system problems.
• Repair and replace faulty electrical components, wiring, and control systems.
• Provide technical training and support to customer maintenance personnel.
• Develop and maintain accurate service reports, documentation, and customer feedback.
• Respond to emergency service calls and provide timely resolution of equipment issues.
• Liaise with the internal engineering and customer support teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company standards.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Trade qualification as an Electrician is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in field service, maintenance, or installation of industrial electrical equipment.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, control circuits, PLCs, VFDs, and instrumentation.
• Proven ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport.
• Willingness to travel frequently within the East London, Eastern Cape region and surrounding areas.
• Valid driver's license is required.
