Job description

The Field Sales Executive is responsible for driving revenue growth, acquiring new customers, and

expanding existing business within the transport and logistics side of the business.

The role serves as a commercial representative of the company, identifying business opportunities,

developing strategic customer relationships and securing profitable contracts that support the company's growth objectives. The incumbent is responsible for managing the full sales cycle, from prospecting and customer engagement through to quotation, negotiation, onboarding, and account development. Working closely with customers and internal operational teams, the Field Sales Executive ensures that service solutions meet client requirements while delivering sustainable profitability and long-term commercial value. This role also supports market expansion by providing customer insights, market intelligence, and competitive analysis, while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, retention, and commercial performance. Through proactive business development, relationship management, and effective execution of sales strategies, the Field Sales Executive contributes directly to the company's market presence, profitability, and long-term success.

Key Performance Areas (KPAs)

Business Development & Revenue Growth

  • Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within the transport, logistics, and freight
  • forwarding sectors.
  • Achieve agreed sales, revenue, and profitability targets.
  • Develop and execute customer acquisition plans to expand the company’s market presence.
  • Generate and maintain a robust sales pipeline to support sustainable business growth.
  • Increase revenue from existing customers through upselling and cross-selling of services.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
  • Act as the primary commercial contact for assigned accounts.
  • Conduct regular customer visits to understand business needs and identify growth opportunities.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention through proactive engagement and
  • service support.
  • Resolve customer issues and escalation operational concerns where necessary.
  • Prepare, present, and follow up on quotations, proposals, and rate agreements.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and service agreements in line with company objectives.
  • Ensure all pricing solutions are commercially viable, competitive, and profitable.
  • Manage the sales process from lead generation through to contract award and implementation.
  • Monitor and report on sales activities, opportunities, and conversion rates.

Contract & Account Management

  • Support the negotiation and administration of customer contracts.
  • Ensure customer onboarding requirements, including credit applications and contractual
  • documentation, are completed accurately and timeously.
  • Monitor customer account performance against agreed volumes and commercial commitments.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks affecting profitability or service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate customer and contract records.
  • Gather and report market intelligence, customer trends, and competitor activities.
  • Identify emerging business opportunities and market developments.
  • Provide recommendations to management on pricing, service offerings, and growth strategies. Commercial Corridor Manager

Operational Coordination

  • Liaise with operations teams to ensure customer requirements are executed effectively.
  • Monitor service delivery performance and address issues that may impact customer satisfaction or profitability.
  • Ensure customer expectations are aligned with operational capabilities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service quality and operational efficiency.

Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, quotations, and contracts. Prepare regular sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and performance updates.
  • Ensure all agreed rates are accurately captured and communicated for billing purposes.
  • Support revenue assurance activities by verifying services delivered against agreed commercial terms.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and reporting requirements

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics/supply chain/MBA

Skills and Experience Required

  • 8 - 10 years’ experience in a similar environment
  • Vast knowledge of working with and influencing people
  • Organizational skills
  • Extensive knowledge of industry especially DRC, Zambia and Zimbabwe
