Placements24 is seeking a hands-on Field Energy Technician based in Tembisa to install, maintain and troubleshoot energy systems at customer sites. You will ensure safety and reliability while working in a collaborative team environment, with opportunities to upskill in new energy technologies.

The role requires a trade qualification and proven field experience in energy systems, plus strong diagnostic abilities and problem-solving skills. A valid driver’s license for travel is essential.

Qualifications

• Requires relevant trade qualification or certification in electrical engineering, mechanical fitting, or related field.
• Proven experience as a technician in the energy sector, preferably with exposure to renewable energy systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical principles, safety procedures, and diagnostic tools.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record for travel to various work sites around Tembisa.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, and maintain energy systems including solar panels, generators, and battery storage units.
• Perform diagnostic tests and troubleshoot issues to identify root causes of system failures.
• Conduct preventative maintenance according to established schedules and procedures.
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each job.
• Provide technical support and basic training to clients on system operation and maintenance.
