Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Electrical Technician to support renewable energy installations around Upington. You will perform hands-on electrical work, install, maintain, and repair electrical components for solar PV systems, and collaborate with engineers and project teams to deliver high-quality results in a growing Northern Cape market.

The role requires a National Certificate/Diploma in Electrical Engineering, a Trade Test as Electrician, and at least 2 years of experience with solar

Qualifications

• National Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering (N3 or higher) or equivalent.
• Trade Test qualification as Electrician.
• Minimum of 2 years as Electrical Technician, preferably with solar PV exposure.
• Strong understanding of electrical principles, wiring methods and safety procedures.
• Proficiency with electrical testing equipment and hand/power tools.
• Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license is essential.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Electrical Technician to support renewable energy installations in and around Upington . This role involves performing hands-on electrical work, ensuring the correct and safe installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical components within solar and potentially other renewable energy systems. You will work closely with engineers and project teams to deliver high-quality installations. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified technician to gain experience in the rapidly growing renewable energy sector in the Northern Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, systems, and components for solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and other renewable energy technologies.


• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.


• Perform electrical tests and diagnostics to identify and resolve issues.


• Ensure all electrical work complies with safety standards, building codes, and industry regulations.


• Assist with the commissioning of new installations and conduct system performance checks.


• Manage inventory of electrical materials and tools, ensuring proper usage and storage.


• Collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, and other installation team members.
