Placements24 has an opening for a Field Service Technician to service power generation and distribution equipment in the Nelspruit region. You will travel to client sites to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair various power systems, ensuring operational integrity and high client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission new equipment at client sites.
• Respond to emergency service calls to minimize downtime.
• Conduct safety checks and ensure compliance with standards.
• Provide technical support and basic training to clients on operation and maintenance.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and hands-on Field Service Technician to provide essential support for power generation and distribution equipment in the Nelspruit region. The successful candidate will possess strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service. This is a field-based role requiring dedication and technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and preventative servicing on power generation equipment (e.g., generators, turbines, switchgear).
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in power equipment.
• Install and commission new equipment at client sites.
• Respond to emergency service calls to minimize downtime.
• Conduct safety checks and ensure all work complies with company and industry standards.
• Provide technical support and basic training to clients on equipment operation and maintenance.

Requirements

• Technical diploma or certification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a field service technician, preferably in the power generation or heavy equipment industry.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively within the Nelspruit area and surrounding regions.
