Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Family Support Officer to empower families in Tembisa, Gauteng. You will conduct home visits, develop tailored intervention plans, provide counselling, and collaborate with schools, healthcare providers and social services to ensure coordinated support.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or sociology, at least 3 years in family support, and the ability to manage a caseload autonomously while traveling within the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or related field required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in family support, child welfare, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of child development and family systems theory.
• Excellent assessment, counselling and crisis intervention skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct home visits and assessments to understand family needs.
• Develop and implement tailored support plans with families.
• Provide counselling and emotional support for parenting stress and related issues.
• Connect families with community resources and services.
• Facilitate group sessions for parents and caregivers.
• Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed.
• Maintain confidential records of client interactions and progress.
• Collaborate with schools, healthcare providers and social services.
