Placements24 on behalf of a rapidly expanding telecommunications infrastructure company in East London seeks a Telecoms Network Engineer with fibre optic expertise to design, deploy, and optimize our fibre network across the region. This role focuses on performance, scalability, and reliability using cutting-edge technologies.

You will work with cutting-edge technologies, collaborating with field technicians and other engineering teams to ensure robust network development and expansion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in telecommunications network engineering with a strong fibre optics specialization.
• Knowledge of fibre optic technologies, standards, and testing methods (OTDR, insertion loss testing).
• Experience with network design software and CAD tools for fibre optic planning.
• Familiarity with passive optical networks (PON) and related technologies.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer fibre optic network layouts, including splicing plans and cable management.
• Oversee installation and commissioning of fibre optic infrastructure per standards.
• Perform network troubleshooting and repairs of fibre optic links using OTDR and testing equipment.
• Analyze performance and implement optimization strategies for the fibre network.
• Collaborate with field technicians and engineering teams to resolve issues.
• Keep up-to-date with fibre optic developments and suggest improvements.
