Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Family Support Worker to join our services team in Welkom. You will work with families facing challenges, offering practical help, emotional support and guidance to promote family stability and child welfare.

Relevant candidates will be compassionate, patient and skilled in family dynamics and child development, collaborating across the Free State to make a positive difference for children and families.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification or extensive experience in social work, childcare, or community services.
• Experience with families and children in a supportive capacity.
• Knowledge of child protection policies in South Africa.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with diverse families.
• Patient, empathetic and non-judgemental approach.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transport for home visits in Welkom area.

Responsibilities

• Conduct home visits to assess family needs and provide ongoing support.
• Assist families in developing parenting skills and positive behavior strategies.
• Connect families with community resources such as childcare, education, and healthcare.
• Provide emotional support and a listening ear to family members facing difficulties.
• Facilitate positive communication and conflict resolution within families.
• Document case progress and outcomes clearly and timely.
