Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Family Support Social Worker to provide in-home support to families in Welkom and surrounding areas. You will assess family needs, offer counseling, and connect families with services to promote child safety and well-being.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Social Work, SACSSP registration, and proven experience with home visits. You will collaborate with schools and health services, maintain detailed case notes, and travel across the Free State to support

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or related.
• Registered with SACSSP.
• Experience working directly with families, ideally home visits.
• Knowledge of child development, family systems, and crisis intervention.
• Strong report writing and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-home assessments of family dynamics, safety, and support needs.
• Provide counseling and support to families experiencing conflict, stress, or dysfunction.
• Develop and implement family-centered intervention plans to address identified issues.
• Facilitate access to community resources such as parenting classes, childcare, and financial assistance.
• Monitor family progress and provide ongoing support to ensure sustained positive change.
• Collaborate with schools, healthcare providers, and child protection services in Welkom.
