Job summary

Placements24 in Mossel Bay is seeking a skilled Family Support Counselor to join our client’s team, providing essential services to strengthen families and improve child well-being.

You will conduct assessments, offer individual and family counseling, develop support plans, connect with community resources, and maintain confidential records. A Master’s in SW/ Psychology and at least 3 years' experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience providing counseling and support to families.
  • Strong knowledge of child development, family systems theory, and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and empathetic listening skills.
  • Proficiency in case management and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of family strengths, needs, and challenges.
  • Provide individual, couple, and family counseling services to address relational and situational issues.
  • Develop and implement individualized support plans aimed at improving family functioning and child welfare.
  • Connect families with relevant community resources, such as educational programs, healthcare services, and crisis intervention.
  • Facilitate psychoeducational groups and workshops for parents and families.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, documenting interventions and progress towards goals.
