Job summary

The University of the Western Cape invites applications for the role of Faculty Officer in the Faculty of Community and Health Sciences. The position supports the Deputy Dean with community engagement, outreach planning and admin oversight on two campuses (Main and Bellville).

Responsibilities include coordinating collaborations, data collection at outreach events, and managing timetables for undergraduate clinical placements, while ensuring compliance with health laws and ethical guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) with at least 3 years in higher education academic administration.
• Clinical placement and community engagement experience.
• Working knowledge of a Student Enrolment Management System.
• Excellent office management, record keeping, data capturing, reporting and minute taking skills.
• Excellent report writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
• MS Office and Google Suite proficiency.
• Valid driver’s license (older than two years).

Responsibilities

• Assist the Deputy Dean to conduct needs analysis in the community.
• Plan and coordinate community engagement activities ensuring tasks are executed.
• Assist with data collection at outreach programmes for analysis.
• Organise stakeholder meetings with partners for clinical/community engagement.
• Function as a committee officer with agenda compilation and minute taking.
• Collate and compile clinical placement timetables for undergraduates.
• Ensure outreach activities comply with health laws and ethical guidelines.
• Assist with stock taking and faculty equipment management.
• Monitor budget for outreaches, transport and wellness centres.
• Report on expenditures of wellness centres, clinical engagement and transport.
• Monitor faculty vehicle usage and related expenses.
• Coordinate transport booking requests for engagements and placements.
• Maintain online document repository and act as driver when necessary.
